Hailing from Barcelona, Parminter is an avant-garde and free jazz quartet consisting of a bass clarinet, keyboard/piano, electric bass, and drums. Taking jazz in its broadest sense as a starting point, this band explores and experiments by incorporating elements of other musical styles into its compositions. With their own unique sound and repertoire, Parminter experiments with noise, free improvisation, free jazz, rock, and metal, as well as elements of contemporary music. They integrate colors from other genres of popular music, especially Ethiopian and South African jazz.
Led by clarinetist Naná Rovira, Parminter is the name of the protagonist of a story, an untamed, adventurous, and daring character, much like the intention behind his music. This band formed in 2024 as an aesthetic continuation of Trialogue, in that trio also featured Carlos Ródenas on electric bass, Trialogue recorded an album that can be found on the Bandcamp page of the Barcelona label Discordian Records. Now a quartet with Alessandro Campobasso on drums and Iván Santaeulària on keyboards and piano, Parminter continues to experiment and compose, seeking new sonic possibilities. Their first album, Hiperbórea, is set to release in January 2026 under the Swedish label Silkheart Records .
